The Active Life Centre has been closed for more than two months now and, with some positive news on the horizon, we felt that it was time to re-connect with our clients, friends and associates. We all recognize the challenging times that have been thrust upon us and it is our sincere hope that each of you are managing to make it through this difficult period!

If you have suffered a loss or hardship during the past few months, we offer our sincere condolences. If you have been one of the many honourable individuals who have continued to provide your valuable services, we thank you for your unwavering support! All of our staff wish that we could put our expertise to work and provide much needed assistance in some capacity, but being in the type of occupation that we are, that just was not physically possible.

We recognize that many of you may be dealing with physical conditions and emotional stress during these challenging days and we feel helpless that we cannot be of service for you at this time. All of the Massage Therapists at the Active Life Centre are anxious to return to the clinic to deliver the therapeutic support that we normally provide our loyal clients.

We are pleased to report that everyone in the Active Life Centre family has managed to escape the virus and we are all healthy and eager to return to our chosen profession, and to our clients, who we all care deeply about.

We hope to have our clinic up and running at some point, but in the meantime, we thought that our website and newsletter would be the most efficient ways to provide you with our ongoing updates.

COVID-19 Update and ALC’s Re-Opening Plans

A few weeks ago, Premier Kenney released Alberta's relaunch strategy. As you know, Stage 1 of the relaunch is already in motion. Massage Therapy was designated into Stage 2 and it will occur after Stage 1 has been determined to have been a success, which will be based on various health indicators.

Unfortunately, some confusion has been created as there was an error on the Alberta Government’s website, erroneously listing Massage Therapy as part of the Stage 1 opening. This error has now been corrected and the government has confirmed that Massage Therapy is, in fact, categorized to re-open in Stage 2. Premier Kenny recently mentioned during a media session that Stage 2 would happen “not before June 19th”.

Please be cautioned that nothing is guaranteed when it comes to COVID-19 re-opening dates. As the economy re-opens, Alberta Health wants to wait until businesses are further into Stage 1 before they give approval, or advice, on strategies they would like to see in a plan that becomes relevant in Stage 2. We are confident in the direction the Chief Medical Officer of Health has guided the Alberta Government, and believe our profession and our practices will return safe and strong this summer.

The Active Life Centre’s Pledge

In order to re-open practices, Registered Massage Therapists will need to follow strict guidelines and protocols put forth by the Alberta government. The government has not yet released any indication as to the personal protective equipment (PPE) or safety guidelines businesses in Stage 2 will need to adhere to, but we assume that our profession will look quite different going forward.

Prior to re-opening our practice, the Massage Therapists at the ALC will educate ourselves on the proper infection control procedures and the use of PPE. We are all eager to get back to work, and the safety of both our staff and the public will continue to be of the utmost importance to those of us who provide our services at the ALC.

Our Massage Therapy Associations will continue to be in contact with government officials regarding this situation and they will release any information to their members as soon as it becomes official. Once we receive this information, we will pass it along to our clients through this website and our E-Newsletter vehicles.

Once the official decision has been made as to when it is safe to re-open our clinic, we will determine and communicate the proper procedures for our clients to follow.

Based on the number of phone inquiries and emails that we have been receiving, we anticipate there may be a rush of appointments being requested once we make the re-opening announcement. Having said this, we would greatly appreciate it if you waited until we are officially open before requesting to book an appointment.

Upcoming ALC E-Newsletters:

We plan to send out our ALC newsletter on an as-need-basis for a while until we are able to return to some level of normalcy.

We believe that our newsletter could greatly benefit our clients. It would give us a vehicle to re-connect with many of you, albeit from a distance away, while offering some valuable support during these challenging times.

Our newsletter will be our main method of communication to inform our clients of any announcements that we will provide. We will also offer some helpful tips on how to manage during these stressful times and we may even try to send some short videos along the way.

Client Contact List:

We have taken this time to update our email Newsletter Contact List. If you are receiving our newsletter it is because one of our therapists has recommended that we keep you, or add you, to our list.

If you have not received the latest edition of our newsletter (Vol. 20-01 May 11, 2020) and you would like to, please send us an email at and we will add you to our emailing list.

Clinic Sense:

Our on-line booking service will remain closed until we have our therapist's schedules established and inserted into the e-appointment book. We will inform you as to when this will be up and running again.

Reception Desk:

Louise will return to her post at some point after the announcement to return has been made. In the meantime, we plan to check the messages regularly and will do our best to return your calls in a timely manner. Our phone number is 780-460-9679.

You can always send us an email at and we will do our best to get back to you.

Once again, we would like to mention that we would greatly appreciate it if you waited until we are officially open before requesting to book an appointment.

Thank you!

We wish you all the best of health and please know that we will return to offer our service and support as quickly as possible once we receive the green light from the powers that govern these critical decisions. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding while we continue to make the necessary preparations to officially re-open our clinic safely and effectively!

Warm regards,
